As a board Certified Financial Planner, CFP®, Curt's clients and professional partners know they are dealing with someone who has had extensive training, met experience requirements and is held to rigorous ethical standards. CFP® certification is recognized as the highest standard in personal financial planning. Curt also holds the Retirement Income Certified Professional, RICP®, designation which provided specialized training on Social Security, Medicare and retirement distribution strategies. The distribution phase regarding retirement assets is just as important as the accumulation phase; poor planning during either phase can result in running out of money.
In 2012, Curt was named National Financial Services Group’s Rookie of the Year, is a five-time qualifier for Presidents Club and a 2016 qualifier for Premier Producer Group.* In 2016, Curt received National Financial Services Group’s Bill W. Hartman Flame of
Excellence Award for outstanding community service work.
Curt’s clients include individuals, families and business owners. He specializes in tax minimization and retirement strategies for self-employed business owners, retirement strategies for pre-retirees and risk management for families. Curt believes “Simple solutions can solve big problems” and his goal is to help people enjoy life more fully by protecting their financial futures.
Financial planning is much more than just investing or accumulating a pile of money for retirement; you can have a lot of very good pieces to the puzzle but if they don’t fit / work together you could have a big problem. Bringing all the pieces of a client’s financial life together is a challenge but Curt understands the complexities of the changing financial climate and will make recommendations only if they are in a client's best interest.
This is particularly true for business owners. I’ve talked with a lot of business owners that say their current financial advisor makes decisions without speaking with their CPA or attorney. Typically, this results in conflicting and inefficient strategies. I prefer to work
with CPAs and attorneys while developing plans because we each have different specialties that need to be considered. The goal is to give the business owner the best solution, working together is the best way to achieve this.
Curt holds a Bachelor of Technology in Computer Systems from the Rochester Institute of Technology and two Masters Degrees in Operations Management and Manufacturing Engineering from NYU Polytechnic School of Engineering. He enjoyed a successful
twenty-year career as an Information Technology Professional and Manager before entering the financial services industry.
The desire to become a financial advisor grew out of personal experience for Curt. Over the years, he watched many family members and friends face personal financial hardship that could have been prevented or minimized through proper planning. Curt believes that financial planning isn't just for the wealthy, more often, he sees the wealthy are the ones that do financial planning. Frequently, Curt meets people that haven’t worked with a financial planner and they quickly realize, you don’t know what you don’t know.
Curt and his wife Janet have lived in Marietta for over 19 years. He is a volunteer crew leader with the Kennesaw Mountain Trail Club, recognized by the National Park Service as the 2014 Group Southeast Region winner of the George and Helen Hartzog Award for Outstanding Volunteer Service. Curt enjoys scuba diving, hiking and spending time with friends and family.
